2007 Year End Activity Report

(Bowling Green, KY) - The Post Commander, Captain Bill Payton of the Kentucky State Police, Post 3 is reporting the following activity for the year of 2007.

Troopers and Detectives issued a total of 22,246 citations of which 7,890 were for speeding and 124 for no child restraint. Troopers issued 2,673 citations for no seatbelts. Four Hundred and Fifty-Four people were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Troopers issued 5,977 courtesy notices investigated 1,431 accidents, of which 45 were fatals, and assisted 2,895 motorist, while inspecting 37,487 vehicles.

Detectives and Troopers investigated 15,886 complaints, and opened 1,097 criminal cases, and made 3,786 criminal arrests.

Troopers also worked 10,492 special details and programs for 2007.

"Fatal collisions had a dramatic decrease of 31.8% in the Post 3 area. In 2006 the Post 3 area had 66 fatals, in 2007 our area had 45. Most importantly, 21 fewer people died due to collisions in our Post area. The KSP believes this is due primarily to the Mandatory Seatbelt Law which took effect this year.", TFC Todd Holder
