Manufacturing Methamphetamine Investigation and Arrest in Warren County

Date of News Release: 01/16/2008

(Bowling Green, KY) - While assisting with the investigation of a stolen motorcycle, Chris Hopper & Anita Whittaker were located at an abandoned trailer in the 4300 block of Girkin Road. Mr. Hopper fled into a wooded area carrying what was later discovered to be items commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine. During his flight, Mr. Hopper ran into a tree causing a container he was carrying that contained anhydrous ammonia and lithium to spill onto his face.

Mr. Hopper was taken into custody at that point without further incident. EMS and Emergency Management were summoned to the scene at which time he was "decontaminated" and treated for the exposure. KSP Drug Enforcement arrived on the scene and dismantled and recovered components used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. It was also determined that Mr. Hopper was wanted in Louisville, KY on an Escape warrant for walking away from a "Halfway House" in November of 2007.

Anita Whittaker was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. After treatment at The Medical Center at Bowling Green, Mr. Hopper was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
