Injury Collision on the Pennyrile Parkway

(Madisonville, KY) - Lawrence Troutman was operating a 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway. He was hauling a trailer that had hay/straw on it. Mr. Troutman was traveling in the right lane (slow lane) traveling at approximately 25 mph. Amy Hughes was operating a 2006 Ford Fusion southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway behind Mr. Troutman. As Ms. Hughes topped a hill, Mr. Troutman's slow-moving vehicle was in front of her. Ms. Hughes was unable to avoid Mr. Troutman and struck the rear of the trailer. The collision damaged the trailer causing the hay/straw to fall off into the roadway. A piece of wood came off the trailer and penetrated Ms. Hughes' windshield causing injury to her. Ms. Hughes was transported by ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. She was wearing a seat belt. Lawrence Troutman and his passenger, Joe Troutman, were wearing seat belts and were not injured.
