Two Providence, KY Men Arrested on Drug Charges

(Madisonville, KY) - Darin Townsend was operating a 2007 Ford truck when he was stopped for speeding. During the traffic stop Mr. Townsend consented to a search of his vehicle. During the search troopers located a corner baggie containing methamphetamine, digital scales with methamphetamine residue, and a pair of brass knuckles. Items commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine were found on both individuals. Both subjects were arrested and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.

Darin K. Townsend age 42 of Providence, KY was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Offense, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Possession of Methamphetamine Precursor. Steven T. Jones age 32 of of Providence, KY was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Possession of a Methamphetamine Precursor.
