(Madisonville, KY) - Mr. Reuben Shemwell was traveling southbound on US 41A. He was slowing his vehicle to check on a pedestrian walking along the roadway. Mr. Matthew Hearrin was also traveling southbound on US 41A. As Mr. Hearrin topped the hillcrest on US 41A, he applied his brakes in an attempt to avoid making contact with Mr. Shemwell. The front bumper of Mr. Hearrin's vehicle then made contact with the rear portion of Mr. Shemwell's vehicle, causing both vehicles to exit the right shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Shemwell's vehicle then spun ninety degrees, causing the rear bumper to make contact with a tree, with the vehicle coming to final rest facing east. Mr. Hearrin's vehicle then struck a tree, coming to final rest facing south.
