Date of News Release: 08/27/2008
Dawson Springs, KY (Hopkins County) - On Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at approximately 2:50 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville was contacted by the Dawson Springs Police Department in reference to assisting them with a domestic complaint. The location of the domestic was 430 East Rosedale Lane in Dawson Springs. A husband and wife were involved in a domestic dispute. The wife had left the residence; however, the husband refused to come out.
After repeated efforts to encourage the husband, Patrick J. Fletcher age 35, to come out were unsuccessful, the Kentucky State Police Special Response Team made entry into the residence. Mr. Fletcher was located deceased inside. The Hopkins County Coroner, Dennis Mayfield, pronounced Mr. Fletcher dead at the scene. At the present time, it appears Mr. Fletcher died from a self-inflicted wound. An autopsy is scheduled for a later date at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville. The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police.
The Dawson Springs Police Department, the Hopkins County Sheriff's Department, Medical Center Ambulance Service and the Hopkins County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
