Felony Arrest in Hopkins County

(Madisonville, KY.) - On 08/22/08 Trooper Komar was in St. Charles attempting to obtain information on Travis Baldwin in regards to a prior complaint from 08/20/08. He stopped to speak with Steven Adamson reference possible contact with Mr. Baldwin. Trooper Komar searched Mr. Adamson and located a small amount of methamphetamine on his person. Mr. Adamson then fled on foot from the scene, as well as several others who were at Mr. Adamson's house.

Trooper Komar pursued Mr. Adamson into a wooded area on Princeton Street before losing him after a brief foot pursuit. Trooper Komar returned to the residence and located the vehicle that the Mr. Adam's subject fled from. The vehicle's owner, Richard Adams, also fled on foot from Trooper Komar. After searching the vehicle, units located a handgun and Drug Paraphernalia. Trooper Mark Combs, KSP Special Operations K-9 unit, was enroute to the scene to assist, when 3 of the subjects that had fled were scene attempting to get into a vehicle. One subject stayed in the vehicle and the other two fled back into the woods. Trooper Combs and the K-9 pursued the other two subjects back into the woods. Travis Baldwin was located and arrested by Trooper Combs and Sergeant Todd Jones.

Troopers then received information that one of the subjects had made his way back to a residence on High Street in Nortonville. Units arrived at the residence and located Richard Adams. Units found a loaded shotgun in the Mr. Adams residence as well. Mr. Adams, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing any firearm.

Richard Adams was charged with Possession of a Handgun by Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Fleeing and Evading 2nd (Foot). Travis Baldwin was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking Over $300, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Fleeing and Evading 1st (Vehicle) Fleeing and Evading 2nd (Foot) 2 Counts, Reckless Driving, Operating on a Suspended OL. Both were lodged into the Hopkins County Detention Center.

Kentucky State Police are still looking for Steven W. Adamson for charges stemming from the incident.
