DUI Injury Collision on US 41A in Hopkins County

Madisonville, KY - Mr. Brian E. Johnson was driving southbound on US 41A in a semi truck with a flatbed trailer loaded with wood. Approximately 3 miles south of Providence for unknown reason Mr. Johnson's truck ran off the west side of the roadway and overturned, dumping its cargo. A witness stated that she had observed the truck weaving since it left Providence and that it dropped off the road, lost control and flipped. Mr. Johnson was helped out of his truck at the scene by Nebo Fire and Rescue personnel and refused medical treatment at the scene. Mr. Johnson had a strong smell of alcohol on his person and there were empty beer cans in the vehicle. Mr. Johnson was given roadside field sobriety tests and placed under arrest at the scene. He was than taken to RMC where blood was drawn for testing and he was checked for injuries. Mr. Johnson was admitted to RMC for possible neck injuries and alcohol poisoning. He was cited into court for DUI and Open Alcoholic Beverage Container after being admitted into the hospital .
