Fatal Collision on KY 630 in Hopkins County

Madisonville, KY - Jarod Turner, a volunteer firefighter with the Manitou Volunteer Fire Department, was operating a 1981 Chevrolet fire truck southbound on KY 630 with the emergency equipment activated. The Manitou Volunteer Fire Department was responding to a fatal collision on Rose Creek Road. Michelle Cline was operating a 1995 GMC Yukon northbound on KY 630. For an unknown reason, the fire truck exited off the southbound shoulder of the roadway. As the fire truck reentered the roadway, Mr. Turner lost control. The fire truck traveled into the northbound lane and struck Mrs. Cline's vehicle head-on. The fire truck exited off the northbound shoulder of the roadway and overturned. Mrs. Cline's vehicle rotated counter clockwise and also exited off the northbound shoulder of the roadway. Mrs. Cline was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hopkins County Coroner's Office. Jarod Turner was transported by ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. All subjects were wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
