Felony Arrest in Hopkins County

Date of News Release: 06/28/2008

Madisonville, KY - Trooper Rice, while on patrol, observed Larry Truitt operating a vehicle traveling on KY 70 at a high rate of speed. Larry Truitt in an attempt to elude accelerated to a high rate of speed and fled. Mr. Truitt then turned southbound on KY 109 and traveled south at a high rate of speed before losing control and crashing his vehicle. Mr. Truitt was located at the collision scene and transported to Regional Medical Center for treatment to injuries sustained in the crash. The ambulance while transporting Mr. Truitt to the emergency room was followed by Perry Truitt in his personal vehicle. Mr. Pruitt had his vehicle equipped with emergency lights and activated them while he followed the ambulance to the Regional Medical Center Hospital. Perry's vehicle also contained various items of police equipment. Perry Truitt was taken into custody at Regional Medical Center and was transported to the Hopkins County Jail. Perry Truitt was charged with Impersonating a Police Officer, Following an Emergency Vehicle too Close, Reckless Driving. Larry Truitt, once released from Regional Medical Center was taken into custody and transported to the Hopkins County Jail. Larry Truitt was charged with Speeding 20 over limit, DUI 1st Degree, Fleeing and Evading 1st Degree, Carrying Concealed Deadly Weapon, Reckless Driving, No Seatbelt, Speeding in a Restricted Zone, No Turn Signal, Improper Passing, Unlawful use of Blue Lights. The case remains under investigation by Trooper Nick Rice Unit/460.
