Felony Drug Arrest in Hopkins County

Date of News Release: 06/07/2008

Madisonville, KY - On June 6, 2008, at approximately 2310 hours, Central Dispatch notified Trooper Derek Smith of an impaired subject operating a vehicle. Trooper Smith located the vehicle and observed Mr. William A. Russell passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle. Upon making contact with Mr. Russell, it was determined he was under the influence of some type of drug or narcotic. Several Prescription Narcotic Medications were located as a result of a vehicle search. Mr. Russell was arrested and transported to the Hopkins County Detention Center where he was processed and lodged.

William A. Russell age 19 of Clay, KY was charged with Rear License Plate Not Illuminated, Operating Motor Vehicle Under Influence Alcohol/Drugs/Etc. 2nd Offense Aggravating Circumstances, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense, Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Degree 1st Offense, Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree 1st Offense, Prescription Controlled Substance Not In Proper Container 1st Offense. He was charged with Hopkins County Detention Center.
