Felony Arrest in Christian County

Madisonville, KY - On Sunday, May 25, 2008 at approximately 11:12 a.m., the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville received a call from an individual who advised that they were following a van whose driver had just stolen a purse from a woman at the McDonald's in Clarksville, TN. The caller and a special deputy from the Christian County Sheriff's Department continued to follow the van. The van turned on Bond Road, which is a dead end road, in Pembroke, KY. In an attempt to flee, the van exited the roadway causing damage to crops, fences and other, private property. The driver hid the van in a hay field and fled the scene on foot. At approximately 5:05 p.m. on May 25, 2008, Tpr. Jason Newby and Christian County Sheriff Deputies observed two subjects walking along the railroad tracks in Pembroke. Both subjects were taken into custody without further incident. Mr. Leroy T. Coverdell was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia & Warrant Served-Fugitive From Another State. He was lodged in the Christian County Detention Center. The other subject was arrested and charged by the Christian County Sheriff's Department.
