Stats From Post 2 For April 2008

(Madisonville, KY) - For the month of April 2008, Post 2 reports the following activity:
- Arrested 15 Drunken Drivers
- Issued a Total of 1,410 Citations
- Issued 624 Speeding Citations
- Issued 181 Seatbelt Citations
- Issued 12 Child Restraint Citations
- Issued 639 Courtesy Notices
- Investigated 90 Crashes
- Assisted 126 Stranded Motorists
- Answered 1,057 Calls For Service
- Opened 84 Criminal Cases
- Made 111 Criminal Arrests
**There were four (4) fatal crashes reported in the Post 2 District in April 2008. Four (4) people were killed as a result of the crashes. Two single fatality crashes occurred in Hopkins County. Single fatality crashes occurred in Christian and Muhlenberg Counties. Three (3) victims were not wearing seatbelts and one (1) victim was wearing a seatbelt. Two (2) of the crashes involved the suspected use of alcohol.
Through April 30, 2008 twelve (12) people have been killed in twelve (12) crashes in the Post 2 District. Ten (10) victims were not wearing seatbelts, one (1) victim was wearing a seatbelt and one (1) victim was not wearing a helmet. Three (3) fatality crashes have involved the suspected use of alcohol.
Through April 30, 2007, seventeen (17) people had been killed in seventeen (17) crashes in the Post 2 District.
Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
Throughout the month, troopers from the Madisonville Kentucky State Police Post will conduct traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 2 District. At these checkpoints, troopers will be targeting impaired drivers, checking for properly restrained adults and children and observing for any other safety violations. Post 2 serves the following counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Webster.
**These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
