Felony Arrest on Pennyrile Parkway in Hopkins County

(Hopkins County) - On February 28, 2008, at approximately 2317 hours, State Police dispatch received a call of a possible impaired driver operating on the Pennyrile Parkway southbound in Hopkins County. Trooper Derek Smith and Trooper Dan Morck observed Billy Reynolds operating his 2000 Buick Lesaber traveling southbound at the 45 mile marker. Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Mr. Reynolds for reckless driving, when Mr. Reynolds came to a complete stop in the roadway and then quickly accelerated from the Troopers. Mr. Reynolds fled from the 45 mile marker southbound to the 42 mile marker. Trooper Smith and Patrolman Couchman were able to pass Mr. Reynolds and block the 42 mile marker off ramp. As Mr. Reynolds approached the exit he swerved his vehicle right towards the patrol vehicles in attempt to exit, but then quickly swerved back to the left avoiding a collision. Mr. Reynolds vehicle was finally stopped just south of the 42 mile marker. He was arrested without incident and charged with multiple violations including Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle), Wanton Endagerment-2nd Degree-Police Officer, DUI 3rd Off Aggrivating Circumstances, Poss of Open Alcohol In Motor Vehicle, Failure To Wear Seat Belt.
