Injury Collision on Pennyrile Parkway in Hopkins County

Madisonville, KY (Hopkins County) - Cassie Duncan age 25 of Hanson, KY was operating a 2000 Mercury Cougar southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway at approximately the 49 mile-marker when she attempted to pass another vehicle. Ms. Duncan began to pass when a ladder fell from another vehicle. She attempted to avoid the ladder, but was unable to do so. Ms. Duncan's vehicle struck the ladder causing her to loose control. The vehicle struck a guardrail with the driver's side door. The vehicle exited off the roadway and came to rest in the ditch. Ms. Duncan had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Hanson Volunteer Fire Department. She was transported by ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. Ms. Duncan was wearing a seatbelt. Tpr. Billy Sumner investigated the crash that occurred on February 25, 2008 at 7:31 a.m. The Hanson Volunteer Fire Department and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
