Arson Arrest in Trigg County

(Cadiz, KY) - A Trigg County man is behind bars after he allegedly set fire to his neighbor's house. At approximately 9:46 PM on December 17th, police were called to a suspicious fire at 278 Pink Swallow Lane near Cadiz. When officers responded, a strong odor of gasoline was present outside of the residence along with other items used to start a fire. The residence received minor damage due to the fire which was set near the rear exterior corner.

An investigation quickly ensued. Troopers and deputies followed tracks in the snow which led to the residence of Shawn Shirley, 31 years of age. After a brief interview at Shirley's residence, Shirley was placed under arrest and charged with Arson 1st Degree. Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Trigg County Sheriff's Office and the Trigg/Lyon Fire Department. The investigation is continuing by Trooper Richie Wright with the Kentucky State Police.
