KSP Increases Patrol in McCracken County during month of September

Date of News Release: 09/09/2008

(Hickory, KY) - If motorists traveling in McCracken County think they have been seeing a larger State Police presence while driving, they probably have. For the entire month of September, the Kentucky State Police is partnering with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to conduct Rural Enforcement in McCracken County. The enforcement is focused on McCracken County's five most dangerous roadways based on collision statistics. The roadways include the following:

  • US Highway 60
  • US Highway 45
  • US Highway 62
  • KY Highway 305 (Old Cairo Road)
  • KY Highway 131 (Said Road)

Troopers will concentrate their efforts on impaired drivers with an emphasis on speed and occupant protection violations (seatbelt, car, and booster seats). Troopers will also be watching for motorists who follow too closely and drive in a careless manner. Motorists are reminded to give their undivided attention to operating their vehicle as driver inattention is a contributing factor in many serious vehicle collisions. Motorist can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police by calling 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state).
