Theft of Controlled Substance Arrest in Livingston County

(Salem, KY) - On Tuesday, July 22, Kentucky State Police received a complaint from the director of nursing at the Livingston County Hospital in Salem Kentucky. The director stated that the hospital narcotics inventory had been tampered with and a quantity of narcotics was believed to be missing. After an inventory of the narcotics supply was conducted by hospital staff, it was determined that certain amounts of narcotics were missing. After a preliminary investigation, Kentucky State Police discovered that the thefts were from an employee at the hospital.

Multiple hospital employees were interviewed by investigators. During the course of one interview on July 25th, an employee was found to be in possession of Demerol. The Demerol was among the narcotics which had been stolen from hospital supply. Joey H. Myers, 39 of Madisonville, was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance over $300.00, possession of a controlled substance under $300.00, possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with physical evidence. Myers was lodged in the McCracken County Detention Center. The investigation is continuing by Detective Jerry Jones with the Kentucky State Police.
