Update to the Escapee From Lyon County

An image of James R Allgood, click here to enlarge(Garfield, KY) - Kentucky State Police in Elizabethtown have recovered the handgun stolen by a Lyon County Escapee. On July 21st, troopers responded to a farm in Breckinridge County in an attempt to locate James Allgood, who was spotted in the area by local residents. When troopers responded, they were unable to locate Allgood; however they recovered the 9mm pistol which had been stolen by Allgood in Lyon County last Thursday. Allgood is still at large and should still be considered dangerous. James Allgood is believed to still be in the Breckinridge County area. Kentucky State Police at Post 4, Elizabethtown, continue the search for the escapee.

(Eddyville, KY) - Kentucky State Police has been advised of a confirmed sighting of Mr. Allgood in the Breckinridge County, Kentucky area. Local authorities are currently searching the area. No additional clothing or vehicle description is available.

(Hickory, KY) - Kentucky State Police is requesting that all citizens observe for a stolen vehicle that was stolen in the same area as West Kentucky Correctional Center escapee James Allgood. Mr. Allgood escaped custody on July 17, 2008. The vehicle is a 1995 Mercury Tracer green in color and has some missing hub caps, broken outside left mirror, and has no muffler. This vehicle may have been taken by the escapee and the operator should be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone has contact with this vehicle they are urged to contact Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state) or their local police agency. Kentucky State Police would also like to remind citizen to keep their vehicles locked and secure the keys.

(Hickory, KY) - Kentucky State Police and Eddyville Police Department responded to a stolen vehicle complaint in Eddyville today at 1:54 p.m. While responding it was discovered that an inmate from the Western Kentucky Correctional complex had walked away from a work detail at the Lyon County School and possibly stole the vehicle. The vehicle was located in a field in Lyon County near Sunnyside Loop. The owner advised that a handgun was missing from the vehicle. Kentucky State Police, Eddyville Police Department, Lyon County Sheriffs Office, Department of Corrections, and Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement are searching for the subject.
