Burglary Investigation in Ballard County

(Hickory, KY) - Investigators with the Kentucky State Police and various other law enforcement agencies met yesterday to discuss the multitude of burglaries believed to have been carried out by Mason Courtney. Last week, Mason Courtney, 27 of Fancy Farm, was arrested and charged in connection with a burglary in Ballard County.

This arrest comes after the execution of multiple search warrants in Graves County on July 8th and 9th. These search warrants ended with the arrest of (6) individuals after officers located stolen property in their possession. Listed below are the individuals arrested as a result of the two search warrants. All arrestees were lodged in the Graves County Jail.

  • Naomi Capps, 49 of Mayfield, was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence.
  • Joseph Holmes, 53 of Mayfield, was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
  • Debra Morfield, 51 of Wingo, was charged with receiving stolen property.
  • Franklin Morfield II, 35 of Wingo, was charged with (1) count of receiving stolen property and (4) counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
  • Franklin Morfield, 56 of Wingo, was charged with (1) count of receiving stolen property and (4) counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
  • Brian Perkins, 36 of Wingo, was charged with receiving stolen property and (4) counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

On Thursday, deputies from Ballard, Calloway, Graves, Marshall, and McCracken counties met with Kentucky State Police to discuss the multiple burglaries which had been committed in each jurisdiction. Investigators estimate between 40 and 70 burglaries were committed by Mason Courtney. Each agency listed above is continuing to assist Kentucky State Police in this ongoing investigation led by Trooper Kyle Nall.
