Homeland Security Grant for Post 1
Date of News Release: 04/22/2008
FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 21, 2008) - Kentucky Office of Homeland Security Director Adam Edelen today announced a $8,000 FY 2007 Buffer Zone Protection Program grant to be awarded to Kentucky State Police Post 1. The funds come from the federal government and are administered by the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security (KOHS).
The Buffer Zone Protection Program (BZPP) assesses certain critical infrastructure and key resource sites in Kentucky. The BZPP provides state and local responsible jurisdictions with a thorough assessment of the critical components of each site while also providing funding for planning or purchasing to deter, prevent, mitigate or respond to an incident at or around the critical site.
"Ensuring the safety and security of Kentuckians is the top priority of our office," said Edelen. "Protecting the critical infrastructure sites around the state is an essential component of the work we do."
