Fatal Collision on I-24 in Lyon County

(Hickory, KY) - Brandon L S Keppler was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse and was traveling westbound on Interstate 24 when for unknown reasons the operator lost control and crossed the median. Scott A Benter was driving a 2006 Volvo semi tractor, was east bound on Interstate 24 and struck Mr. Keppler's vehicle on the drivers side door. Both units left the roadway and came to final rest off the shoulder. Mr. Brandon L S Keppler, was pronounced dead on the scene by Lyon County Coroner, Ronnie Patton. Scott A. Benter, was transported to Caldwell County Hospital where he was treated and released. No charges are pending at this time.

Trooper Anthony Trotter was assisted by Sgt. Greg Crockett, Trooper Donald Crawford, Lyon County Sheriff Kent Murphy, Lyon County Deputy Robert Harris, Lyon County EMS, Eddyville Volunteer Fire Department, Kuttawa Volunteer Fire Department, Lyon County Rescue Squad, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, and the Kentucky Department of Transportation. The investigation continues by Trooper Anthony Trotter and accident reconstructionist, Trooper Chris Anderson.
