New Commander at KSP Post 1
Date of News Release: 02/24/2008
(Mayfield, KY) Effective February 16, 2008 Captain Nathan C. Kent assumed command of the Kentucky State Police Mayfield Post. Kent, a 1994 graduate of Indiana University and a 2005 graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Academy, returns home after two assignments in central Kentucky. Beginning in 1995 Kent served at the Mayfield Post as a Trooper, Sergeant, and Lieutenant before promoting to Captain in 2006, and transferring to the agency's Inspections and Evaluations Branch. Subsequent to that assignment, he was the commander of the Frankfort Post, before recently returning to Post 1, Mayfield.
"I look forward to continuing the agency's long tradition of delivering professional police services. The citizens are our customers, and it is they that we strive to serve. Deterring criminal activity, ensuring highway safety, and being responsive to citizen's complaints remains our focus," said Kent.
Regarding his new command, Kent added, "This is a very prideful assignment for me. I've spent most of my adult life serving at Post 1, and I look forward rejoining this group of dedicated, public service professionals."
In addition to Captain Kent, Post One also welcomes Sergeant Greg Crocket. Crocket was promoted to Sergeant on February 16th and travels from Richmond Kentucky to serve the citizens of the Mayfield Post. Also promoted was Lieutenant Janet Barnett. Lieutenant Barnett, a resident of Lyon County, remains assigned to the Mayfield Post as the investigative Lieutenant.
