Fatal Collision on the West Kentucky Parkway in Lyon County

(Hickory, KY) - A Ford Explorer operated by Luis Silva was traveling westbound on the West Kentucky Parkway near the 4 mile marker. The vehicle, which was pulling a 24 foot enclosed trailer, drove upon an overpass which was covered in ice. The vehicle and trailer immediately began to slide causing it to impact with a guardrail in the median of the parkway. The impact caused the trailer to disconnect from the vehicle. The vehicle then rolled to a stop in the median. The backseat passenger, who was seated in a child booster seat, was killed as a result of the collision. The driver and other passenger sustained multiple injuries and were transported to Lourdes Hospital. Kentucky State Police were assisted at the scene by the Lyon County Sheriff and the Lyon County EMS/Rescue. The collision investigation is continuing by Trooper Daniel Jones.
