Residential Fire/Death Investigation in Philpot, KY

(Henderson, KY) - On Monday, December 22, 2008 at approximately 9:30p.m., a residential fire occurred at 10725 MaCamish Road, Philpot, KY. The residence was fully engulfed when the Knottsville Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene. Firefighters discovered a body inside the residence at approximately 1:15 a.m. The body was identified as the only resident of the house, William F. Brown. The Daviess County Coroner Pronounced William F. Brown deceased at the scene.
The body and point of origin were in an area where there had been a heater. It is unknown at this time if the fire was electrical in nature or if a kerosene heater may have been involved. The fire appears to be accidental in nature.
The cause of the fire and death remain under investigation by Det. Steve Manley, Kentucky State Police Post 16 Arson Investigator Mark Boaz, Kentucky State Fire Marshalls Office and the Daviess County Coroners Office.
In addition to the Knottsville Volunteer Fire Department, the Daviess County Fire Department also responded to the scene to extinguish the fire. The investigation remains open at this time.
