Date of News Release: 12/12/2008
(Henderson, KY) - Officer Timothy Nussmeier with the Evansville, Police Department initiated a pursuit in Evansville, IN when Richelle Keefover failed to stop after she was involved in a hit and run. Officer Nussmeier chased Ms. Keefover into Kentucky, where Henderson County Deputy Terry Harmon took over the pursuit. Deputy Harmon chased Ms. Keefover East on US 60 from the intersection of US 60 and Wathen Lane to the Spottsville Bridge. Deputy Terry Harmon and Ms. Keefover crossed over the bridge. Ms. Keefover braked suddenly causing Deputy Harmon to steer left in order to avoid a collision. As Deputy Harmon passed, Ms. Keefover steered to the left striking the rear passenger side of Deputy Harmon's cruiser. Both vehicles began to rotate in a clockwise direction and ran off the right side of the roadway where both vehicles had a secondary collision with some trees. Ms. Keefover was apprehended by Deputy Harmon with the assistance of Officer Nussmeier. There were minor injuries; however Ms. Keefover and Deputy Harmon refused transport to the hospital. Ms. Keefover was charged by the Henderson County Sheriff's Office and lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center.
