Injury Collision Involving School Bus in Metcalfe County

Date of News Release: 12/05/2008

(Columbia, KY) - On 12/04/08 a school bus operated by 70 year old Herman Yates of Horse Cave was attempting to cross at the intersection and pulled into the path of a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup operated by Jeffery E Childress, age 20, of Glasgow, KY. The Ford Ranger struck the Bus in the passenger side front end. There were 26 total passengers on the bus and six were treated and released at TJ Samson Hospital. In addition to the two operators the following students were treated and released: Genesis Nickson, age 12 of Horse Cave, KY; Melody Proffitt, Age 15, of Center KY; Cynthia Proffitt, age 14, of Center, KY; Jessica Wesley, age 12, of Center, KY; Lillian Wesley, age 9, of Center, KY and Jamie Ballard, age 13, of Hardyville, KY. Trooper Bobby Maxwell investigated.
