Update to the Boy Recovering From Serious Burns in Russell County

(Columbia, KY) - The 5-year-old juvenile is Caleb Farris. He is in critical but stable condition with 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his chest and face. He also inhaled the flames causing some internal injury.
Caleb was playing with other juveniles in the mobile home park. Investigation revealed that the juveniles were playing with a liquid accelerant in a water bottle and that they were pouring it out and setting it on fire. The accelerant was poured into a container that one of the juveniles was holding. When lit, the container caught fire scaring the juvenile who then threw the container into the air. The container fell on Caleb Farris causing his injuries.

(Columbia, KY) - The Kentucky State Police have initiated a non-criminal investigation into the events that led to a 5 year old juvenile sustaining severe burns while playing with other juveniles in the Springs Mobile Home Park in Russell Springs on 08/31/2008. The juvenile was transported to Russell County Hospital and later flown to University of Kentucky Children's Hospital.
