Felony Arrest in Adair County

Date of News Release: 05/30/08

(Columbia, KY) - On 05/30/08, Sergeant Chris Knifley was on routine patrol on KY206 near the limits of Columbia, KY. Sgt. Knifley initiated a stop on a 1991 Mercury near Greenhills Road. The operator of the vehicle attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by Trooper Fred Cornett and Sgt. Knifley. The subject refused to give any identification and gave several different names to officers. The suspect was lodged to the Adair County Regional Jail and charged with Failure to Wear Seat Belt, Following Another Vehicle Too Closely, Failure To/Improper Signal, Reckless Driving, Fleeing/Evading Police 2nd, Giving A False Name to Officer, No Operator's License and Failure of Non-Owner Operator to Maintain Insurance. The subject was later identified as Charles Anthony Polk, age 22. It was determined that Polk was wanted on a Felony warrant out of Christian County for Robbery 1st Degree and Fleeing/Evading Police 1st.
