Shooting Incident/Officer Down in Clinton County

(Columbia, KY) - On March 5, 2008 Clinton County Sheriff's Department advised the State Police that Teresa Sawyers was reported missing and may have been taken by force by her ex-husband Terry Sawyers.

Around 10:27 a.m. March 6th officers from the Columbia State Police received information that Teresa Sawyers might be held in the Wells Bottom area of Clinton County near Wolf Creek Dam. Around 12:31 p.m. four KSP Officers arrived in the area. Around 14:32 p.m. Officers reported numerous shots had been fired at them.

At this time one Trooper has been taken to Clinton County Hospital for a single gunshot wound to the leg, and is being transferred to UK Hospital in Lexington.

Officers are still at the scene and if anyone sees or knows the whereabouts of Terry Sawyers please contact your local police department. Sawyers should be considered armed and dangerous.
