Injury Collision on US 23 in Greenup County

(Ashland, Ky) - Kentucky State Police in Ashland is investigating a three-vehicle injury collision that occurred on US 23 at the intersection of Highway 3307. Elizabeth Winters was traveling South on US 23, and began slowing for a vehicle that was turning into a parking lot. Jason Kirk who was traveling behind Edward Journey who began slowing. Ms. Winters was also traveling South behind Mr. Kirk. Ms. Winters was unable to stop and impacted Mr. Kirk's vehicle in the rear portion of the vehicle. After impact Mr. Kirk's vehicle then struck Mr. Journey's vehicle in the rear portion of the vehicle. Jason Kirk, was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital by Healthnet, for multiple injuries. Elizabeth Winters, was ground transported to Our Lady of Bellfonte.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by Trooper Ben Tanner of the Kentucky State Police. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the collision.
