Felony Arrest in Boyd County
Date of News Release: 06/26/2008
(Ashland, KY) - Kentucky State Police in Ashland have arrested a Barboursville, WV native in connection with a burglary of a local storage unit in Ashland, KY. Jackie Call was arrested on scene of the storage units on Mead Springer Road after KSP learned the subject had broken into a unit without consent. Mr. Call was a contractor who bought out storage units of individuals who defaulted on their lease agreements. Mr. Call, however, illegally broke into a unit that was not part of the units he was authorized to take. Mr. Call forcibly opened this unit and removed the merchandise. This property was actually owned by the Kentucky State Police in Ashland. Kentucky State Police contacted the West Virginia State Police and a search warrant was executed on another storage unit in Barboursville, WV where the property was believed to be located. Over 90% of seized property was located by Troopers from the West Virginia and Kentucky State Police in a storage unit owned by Call located in Barboursville.
Mr. Call was taken into custody and lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center. Authorities from the Kentucky State Police strongly feel this is not an isolated incident and that Mr. Call has did this in other locations in our area. The Kentucky State Police is asking any police agency to call if they have any type of storage center burglary / theft.
Detective Martin is continuing the investigation.
