Fatal Collision on HWY 1087 in Knott County

(Hazard, KY) - On 12/10/08 at approximately 11:00am Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call of a single vehicle accident on HWY 1087 in the Talcum community of Knott County.

The operator lost control of his vehicle and struck an embankment and tree. The vehicle then crossed both lanes of traffic and struck a utility pole. The operator was wearing a seatbelt and transported to the Hazard ARH for treatment. The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and pronounced deceased at the scene by the Knott County Coroner's Office. The investigation is continuing by Tpr. Ryan Catron.
