Fatal Accident Occurs on Hal Rogers Parkway

(Hazard, KY) - On 06/08/08 at approximately 3:58 p.m. Kentucky State Police received a call reporting a two-vehicle accident on the Hal Rogers Parkway in Leslie County.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the operator of one vehicle, James Mark Dean age 32 of Fallrock Ky. attempted to make a left turn from Ky. 118 onto the Hal Rogers Parkway and failed to yield the right of way to another vehicle. The 2 vehicles collided causing one fatality and several others to be sent for medical treatment. The Leslie County Coroners Office pronounced Mr. Dean deceased at the scene, 2 patients were flown to Holston Valley Medical Center and 3 patients were transported to Mary Breckinridge Hospital. The names of the injured were not available at press release time. Safety belts were in use at the time of the collision. The investigation is continuing by Tpr. Brandon Thomas.
