Armed Robbery Reported in Leslie County

(Hazard, KY) - On 05/28/08 at approximately 08:20 a.m. Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a 911 call from Janet Asher stating she had just been robbed at Driftwood Lane in the Hyden community of Leslie County.

Mrs. Asher stated she had just returned home and was attempting to enter her front door when an unknown subject brandished a handgun and demanded money. The victim gave the subject an undisclosed amount of cash. The perpetrator made the victim unhooked the phone cord, made threats toward her and fled the scene on foot. Upon arrival of troopers an extensive search of the area was conducted and the perpetrator was not located. The perpetrator was identified as a white male approximately 5 ft. 8 in. tall, 175 lbs., sandy hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a black ski mask, gray University of Kentucky hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, brown jersey gloves and gray/blue Nike tennis shoes.
