Single Vehicle Fatality in Perry County

(Hazard, KY) - On 01/17/08 at approximately 9:53 p.m. Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a call from Perry County 911 Center that a single vehicle accident had occurred on KY 699 in the Cornettsville Community of Perry County.

Emergency Personnel and Troopers arrived at the scene to find a vehicle overturned and resting on its top. Preliminary investigation indicates that the operator, Charles W. Caudill age 49 of Cornettsville, KY was traveling North on Highway 699 when his vehicle crossed the centerline. Mr. Caudill then over corrected and lost control running off the roadway and overturning. The Perry County Coroners Office pronounced the Charles W. Caudill deceased at the scene.

A passenger in the vehicle, Tracey Campbell was transported to the Hazard ARH for his injuries. No seatbelts were in use at the time of the collision. The accident remains under investigation by Tpr. Ronnie Long.
