Fatality Occurs in Perry County

(Hazard, KY) - On 01/17/08 at approximately 06:30 am the Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a call of a single vehicle accident in the Delphia Community of Perry County.

Emergency personnel and Kentucky State Police arrived at the scene to find a vehicle had ran off the roadway on Ky. 463 and struck a tree. Preliminary investigations indicates that the operator, Oliver B. Vanzant age 21 of Leatherwood, Ky. lost control of his vehicle due to snow covered roads. The operator was the only occupant in the vehicle was transported to the Hazard ARH where he was pronounced deceased by the Perry County Coroners Office. No seat belts were in use at the time of the collision. The accident remains under investigation by Tpr. Terry Brewer.
