Fatal Crash on KY 92 Bell County
Date of News Release: 01/07/2008
(INGRAM, KY) On 01/06/2007 at 3:22 a.m., Trooper Brian Green of Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan was patrolling KY 92 in the community of Ingram in Bell County when he came upon a single vehicle crash that was fully engulfed in flames. The Bell County Fire Department arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire and it was determined that there were four bodies in the vehicle. State forensic pathologist Doctor Emily Craig was called to the scene to assist with the investigation. The four subjects were taken to the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab in Frankfort for autopsy to confirm the identities of the bodies. Detective Mike Cornett determined that the operator of the vehicle lost control in a curve and left the roadway, striking a tree coming to final rest at the area of impact with the tree. None of the occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts. Assisting at the scene was the Bell County Coroners Office. This fatal crash is still under investigation by Detective Mike Cornett, Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan.
