Fatal Collision on KY Route 680

Date of News Release: 12/15/2007

(Pikeville, KY) - On 12/14/2007 at approximately 1945 hours Post 9 received a call of a traffic accident involving a passenger vehicle. Brandon Robert Newsome was operating a white 1995 Chevrolet S10 truck traveling west on KY Route 680. The subject entered a curve, lost control of his vehicle, and struck an embankment. Mr. Newsome was ejected from his vehicle. He was transported from the scene to McDowell ARH Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by the Floyd County Deputy Coroner. This collision remains under investigation by Trooper Eric Gibson.
