Armed Bank Robbery Investigation in Pike County

(Pikeville, KY) - On Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 9:24 am Kentucky State Police Post 9 Pikeville received a hold up alarm call at the Robinson Creek branch of BB & T Bank.

A male suspect entered the bank wearing a full black helmet and armed with a hand gun. The suspect then demanded money from the tellers and after taking the money he fled the scene. The suspect left the scene riding a newer dark colored, cruiser style, motorcycle.

When Trooper Jason Merlo and Trooper Bo Cure arrived at the scene and ascertained that everyone was safe, they immediately searched all escape routes in the area but were unable to locate the suspect. They later found the suspects abandoned 2006 Yamaha motorcycle about one half mile from Sugarcamp Road.

The suspect is described as being 6 feet tall with light colored hair. He was wearing a black full motorcycle helmet, grey hooded sweatshirt, jogging pants and black gloves with the nike logo.
