Fatal Collision on KY RT 3412 in Martin County

(Pikeville, KY)- Tausha Adkins was operating a 2002 Ford Escort ZX2 traveling eastbound on KY RT 3412 and pulled directly into the path of a 1999 Volvo Flatbed Truck traveling east on KY RT 645. The Volvo was operated by Clark Townsend of Ashland. Mr. Townsend was not treated for any injuries. According to witnesses Ms. Adkins failed to stop at a stop sign, at the intersection of RT 645 and KY 3412. The collision occurred in the intersection. Ms. Adkins was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Joe Mullins. The collision is still under investigation by Trooper Jason Dials Unit 433. Trooper Dials was assisted at the scene by trooper Todd Wheeler, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, Martin County Sheriffs Department, Martin County Rescue, Inez Fire Department, Martin County Emergency Management, Net Care Ambulance and the State HWY Department.
