Shooting in Harrison County

(Dry Ridge, KY) - At 11:31 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 officers from the Harrison County Sheriff's Office and Kentucky State Police responded to a call of a shooting at 716 Smith-Martin Lane in Cynthiana.
Upon arrival and subsequent investigation, officers learned that Ruby S. Willis, 42, of 716 Smith-Martin Lane, Cynthiana, KY had been wounded multiple times by shots from a handgun. Investigation revealed that the shots were fired by Mrs. Willis' husband, Larry N. Willis, 51, also of 716 Smith-Martin Lane. Mrs. Willis was estranged from her husband and had gone to the residence to obtain property and move to another location.
Larry Willis was arrested on scene at 2:40 p.m. and charged with Assault 1st degree, a class B felony. Under Kentucky law, a class B felony is punishable by imprisonment for a period of up to 20 years in a state penitentiary.
Kentucky State Police Detective Jeremy Murrell is leading the investigation and worked in tandem with deputies of the Harrison County Sheriff's Office and other State Police officers during this investigation.
