Serious Motorcycle Crash Leaves Woman in Critical Condition

Date of News Release: 05/21/2007

(Campbellsburg, KY)- On May 20th, 2007, at approx. 5:00 pm, KSP Post-05, Campbellsburg, received calls in reference to a serious motorcycle accident. The accident happened on Ky. 55, (Carrollton Road), in a curve, at the intersection with Ky. 316, (Providence Road). This is in the southeast corner of Trimble County, just a few yards from Carroll County and Henry County. The motorcycle, was being operated by Karen A. Hannon, age 46, from Covington, Ky, (previously from Sparta, Ky). She was northbound on Ky. 55, and apparently drifted over the centerline. The motorcycle struck a pickup, driven by Kevin L. Crouch, age 33, from Pendleton, Ky. The pickup was hauling a flatbed trailer that had a "Bobcat" type, piece of machinery. After striking the pickup, the motorcycle went airborne and over the "Bobcat". The motorcycle came down on the roadway and Hannon was critically injured. Tpr. Chris Clark arrived to investigate the accident and immediately called for Stat-Care helicopter. Hannon was wearing a helmet and was treated by The Trimble County (paid) EMS, the Henry County (paid) ALS and the Henry County Paramedic. The Bedford Fire Dept and the Campbellsburg Fire Dept assisted them. Tpr. Mike Webb, Tpr. Ryan Gosser, Tpr. Dave Roberts and Tpr. Chip Perry assisted Tpr. Clark. Hannon was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital. The only condition that U of L would advise was that she was in "stable condition", in the Intensive Care Unit. Alcohol and/or speed are not considered to be factors in this accident. The investigation is ongoing and there is nothing further to add, at this time.
