Joint effort between KSP and Fish & Wildlife - ATV Investigation
Date of News Release: 04/06/2007
(Campbellsburg, KY)- On Sunday, April 1st, 2007, The Kentucky Dept. of Fish and Wildlife and the Kentucky State Police had a combined enforcement effort, in reference to numerous complaints of unruly 4-wheeler activities, which are taking place in Henry County, Ky. The detail was to target drunk drivers on ATV's and in 4x4 trucks. These individuals are tearing up the creek banks, private property and farm lands. They are also driving on Six Mile Creek Road, Joe's Branch, KY 389 and in the Lockport areas. The Fish & Wildlife Officers and Troopers were operating Fish and Wildlife ATV's. They have even received complaints from churches advising the ATV's are so loud, they couldn't conduct their worship services. There have been reports of over 100 ATV's gathering in some of the areas, on the weekends, and there are concerns because the summer is just around the corner.
This detail is going to be continued periodically, throughout the season. Several citations were issued Sunday, however the water was higher than normal and people didn't have many places to ride. The Kentucky State Police and the Kentucky Dept. of Fish & Wildlife, will be patrolling these areas, and appropriate citations will be issued. If you have information regarding these activities, please contact Fish & Wildlife or KSP.
