Update to the Murder, Kidnapping, & Tampering with Evidence Arrest in Butler County
Date of News Release: 11/22/2007
(Bowling Green, KY) - On January 15, 2000, the Kentucky State Police received a report from hunters that they had discovered the body of a white female in a cemetery in rural Butler County. Detectives from the Kentucky State Police sent the body to the Kentucky State Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy. The autopsy revealed that Ms. Childress was the victim of a homicide.
Detectives continued investigating the Murder for several years, and recent information gained by KSP Detectives Scott Skaggs and Sheriff Joe Gaddie led to the Butler County Grand Jury issuing 2 sealed indictments for Dennis Childers and Hillard Jay Woodcock. Childers is currently lodged in the Butler County Jail on a $500,000 cash bail. Hillard Jay Woodcock was arrested on 11/22/2007 by Det. Scott Skaggs for the offense of Tampering With Physical Evidence and is currently lodged in the Butler County Jail on a $10,000 cash bail. The investigation is continuing.
