Assault 1st on Police Officer Investigation and Arrest

(Bowling Green, KY) - KSP Trooper Joel Huff responded to 1065 Northtown School Road to assist Hart County Sheriff's Deputy Kenneth Glass in attempting to locate a missing juvenile & a wanted subject, Baron D. Alexander. On arrival, Trooper Huff & Deputy Glass knocked on the doors of the residence in an attempt to make contact with someone. After receiving no response from the residence, Trooper Huff & Deputy Glass were walking back to their vehicles. At this time, the owner of the residence, Robert A. McCauley, exited the residence with a firearm. McCauley fired one round at the officers. Trooper Huff returned fire , discharging his weapon one time. Trooper Huff's round struck a vehicle near where the suspect was standing. The suspect then dropped his weapon & lay down on the ground. McCauley was taken into custody without further incident. McCauley was charged with two counts of attempted assault 1st. The wanted subject Baron Alexander was also taken into custody without incident & lodged in the Barren County Jail on outstanding warrants. The juvenile was released to the Glasgow Police Department for return to her family. There were no injuries to any involved parties. The incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Post Three.
