Fatal Collision on KY 2629 in Warren County

Date of News Release: 09/28/2007

(Bowling Green) - Rosa Myers was northbound on KY 2629. Joy Robertson and Shannon Gottke were southbound. Rosa Myers and Joy Robertson both crested a hill near the intersection of KY 2629 and Shady Lane at close to the same time; however, Rosa Myers' vehicle had crossed over the center line into the southbound lane. Joy Robertson attempted to avoid a collision with Rosa Myers by braking and steering to the right, but was unable to do so. Rosa Myers and Joy Robertson's vehicle struck each other in the southbound lane.

After colliding with Joy Robertson, Rosa Myers&39; vehicle spun counterclockwise coming to final rest across the northbound lane. Joy Robertson's vehicle came to rest on the shoulder of the southbound side of the roadway. Shannon Gottke&39;s vehicle, after witnessing the collision between Rosa Myers and Joy Robertson, attempted to brake to avoid striking Joy Robertson's vehicle. Shannon Gottke&39;s vehicle was unable to do so and struck Joy Robertson's vehicle in the rear. Rosa Myers was freed from the vehicle by EMS without the aid of mechanical means. Rosa Myers was subsequently transported to the Medical Center in Bowling Green and later to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for head and chest injuries. Joy Robertson was freed by mechanical means, but was pronounced deceased at the scene by Warren County Deputy Coroner Harold Sansom. Shannon Gottke was uninjured.

The investigation is ongoing.
