2006 Annual Activity Report /p>

(BOWLING GREEN, KY) - The Post Commander, Captain Bill Payton of the Kentucky State Police, Post 3 is reporting the following activity for the 2006 calendar year.
Troopers and Detectives issued a total of 25,657 citations of which 9,708 were for speeding, 1,843 citations and warnings for no seatbelts, and 113 for no child restraint. 631 people were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Troopers issued 8,006 courtesy notices investigated 1,123 accidents, of which 66 were fatalities and assisted 3,542 motorists, while inspecting 36,867 vehicles.
Detectives and Troopers investigated 16,912 complaints, and opened 1,662 criminal cases, and made 3,542 criminal arrests, and investigated 20 non-criminal cases.
Troopers also worked 10,253 programs and special details during 2006.
The Post Commander, Captain Bill Payton said, "Our Post receives numerous calls for service each year and we investigate a numerous variety of complaints. We continually strive to provide prompt, efficient and courteous service to the citizens of the Commonwealth."
"Due primarily to the educational efforts of the Governor's Highway Safety Branch, Drive Smart, and with concerted enforcement by State, County and Local law enforcement, the Commonwealth's Fatality toll has decreased from 985 vehicle related deaths in 2005, to 907 deaths in 2006." "Remember, a seatbelt can't save your life, if your not wearing it."
