Possible Scam in the Post 2 Area

Date of News Release: 12/06/2007

Madisonville, KY (Hopkins County) - The Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville is advising the public of a possible scam in the Post 2 District.

Victims are being contacted by phone. The callers do not identify themselves. The caller then advises that the victim's insurance policies have been cancelled and requests that the victims immediately send money to get the policies reinstated. The calls usually occur later in the evening hours and the caller is very persistent.

If you receive a phone call like this, do not send money. The Kentucky State Police advise you to contact your insurance agent. You may also contact the Kentucky State Police at 1-270-676-3313 or toll-free at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state) if you have been a victim of the scam.
