Stats From Post 2 For November 2007

(Madisonville, KY) - For the month of November 2007, Post 2 reports the following activity:

  • Arrested 46 Drunken Drivers
  • Issued a Total of 1,250 Citations
  • Issued 481 Speeding Citations
  • Issued 123 Seatbelt Citations
  • Issued 13 Child Restraint Citations
  • Issued 751 Courtesy Notices
  • Investigated 120 Crashes
  • Inspected 2,106 Vehicles
  • Assisted 202 Stranded Motorists
  • Answered 1,092 Calls For Service
  • Opened 51 Criminal Cases
  • Made 119 Criminal Arrests

**There were two (2) fatal crashes reported in the Post 2 District in November 2007. Two (2) people were killed as a result of the crashes. Single fatality crashes occurred in Christian and Crittenden Counties. Both victims were not wearing a seatbelt.

Through November 30, 2007, forty-two (42) people have been killed in forty-one (41) crashes in the Post 2 District. Twenty-four (24) victims were not wearing seatbelts, eleven (11) victims were wearing seatbelts, one (1) victim was not wearing a helmet, five (5) victims were wearing a helmet and one (1) victim was a pedestrian.

Through November 30, 2006, forty-five (45) people had been killed in thirty-seven (37) crashes in the Post 2 District.

Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.

Throughout the month, troopers from the Madisonville Kentucky State Police Post will conduct traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 2 District. At these checkpoints, troopers will be targeting impaired drivers, checking for properly restrained adults and children and observing for any other safety violations. Post 2 serves the following counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Webster.

**These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
